EXPERIENCING THE MIGHTY CHANGE
The book is a thorough exploration and discussion of the Lord’s teaching to Nicodemus in John 3:5 that "Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God."
The authors demonstrate through extensive quotes from the scriptures that being "born of the Spirit" is both a vital aspect of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and an essential step in one’s spiritual growth and personal relationship with Jesus Christ. We also show, again through extensive scriptural references, that the "born of the Spirit" experience is referred to by many names in the scriptures including such names as "baptism of fire and the Holy Ghost", "converted", "sanctified", having clean hands and a pure heart", "born again", "born of God" and "come unto Christ."
The authors will also show, through the scriptures, that THE "BORN OF THE SPIRIT" EXPERIENCE IS ALSO THE "NEW COVENANT" that the Lord has promised in both the Old Testament (Jer. 31:31-34) and in the New Testament (Heb.8:8-13). Read now this glorious promise from the New Testament:
9 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.
20 For this is the new covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord: I will put my laws into their mind and write them in their hearts; and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people;
11 And they shall not teach every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.
12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.
13 In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.
To the best of our knowledge, "Experiencing The Mighty Change" is the most thorough and complete discussion of the relevant scriptures on this subject ever written.
BECAUSE THE TEXT IS FAR TOO MEATY TO READ ON SCREEN, WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND PRINTING OUT EVERY FILE SO THAT YOU’LL HAVE THE ENTIRE BOOK TO READ, STUDY AND PONDER.
OUR SOLE PURPOSE IS TO HELP PEOPLE COME MORE FULLY TO JESUS CHRIST AND THEREBY MORE FULLY ENJOY THE RICHER BLESSINGS AVAILABLE TO ALL WILLING TO DO SO.
The book includes all of the relevant information in the Bible including John the Baptist’s statement that while he, John, baptized with water, the Messiah would baptize with fire and the Holy Ghost; the account in the third chapter of the gospel of John of the Savior’s night discussion with Nicodemus during which Christ said "Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God"; the events on the day of Pentecost; and the encounter with Simon the sorcerer.
However, there is a problem with limiting our scriptural sources to just those in the Bible. That problem is that there is not enough information in the Bible to gain a correct understanding of what really occurred, although it is obvious that something observable and discernible did happen when people actually received their baptism of fire and were filled with the Holy Ghost. Another similar problem with the limited information in the Bible is that there is virtually no way anyone can recognize or connect the multitude of different words and phrases, like "converted", "sanctified", "new covenant", and so on, used throughout all the scriptures as just being different names for or descriptions of the same experience. Without this understanding, the true connection between and meaning of many scriptures remains hidden.
Because of this absence of information in the Bible about what the baptism of fire and the Holy Ghost really is and what are true, complete "born of the Spirit" experiences, the Adversary has for centuries enjoyed almost an unchecked ability to deceive and delude many with a wide variety of false manifestations like jumping, shouting, meaningless utterances of gibberish, rolling about - hence the name "holy roller", and so on.
The additional information that provides the clarification and understanding on this subject needed throughout Christendom is contained in a variety of passages from the "Book of Mormon", "Doctrine & Covenants" and "Pearl of Great Price", scriptures recognized by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and offshoots thereof. We’ll also show that the central message of these three bodies of scripture is come unto Christ and be born of water and of the Spirit.
While "Experiencing The Mighty Change" was written by and originally primarily to members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, IT IS EQUALLY APPLICABLE TO ALL WHO LOVE JESUS CHRIST AND SEEK A DEEPER GOSPEL UNDERSTANDING AND FURTHER LIGHT AND KNOWLEDGE.
In our view the first law of spiritual growth is "Ask and ye shall receive, seek and ye shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto you." It is our experience that those who sincerely ask, seek and knock are heard and answered by the Lord.
SO, DEAR FRIEND AND BROTHER OR SISTER IN CHRIST, if you sincerely seek a closer relationship with Jesus Christ and a deeper Gospel knowledge, then READ ON and leave the verification or ratification of the truthfulness of the things taught where it belongs, COMPLETELY IN THE HANDS OF JESUS CHRIST AND THE HOLY SPIRIT. If your Christian experience does not include acceptance of the Book of Mormon, etc, then we urge you to put aside, or at least temporarily suspend, whatever level of disbelief or even antagonism you may have about the Book of Mormon and the other scriptures mentioned and READ ON, relying on the Lord’s Spirit for discernment and seeking the only evidence that really matters, namely the confirmation of the Spirit. We think you will quickly see that even though some of the references are unfamiliar and the verses new to you, that, nevertheless, the message and the Spirit will be familiar and sweet to your soul.
WE SAY AGAIN THAT OUR ONLY PURPOSE IS TO HELP ALL DRAW CLOSER TO OUR LORD AND SAVIOR, JESUS CHRIST.
We firmly believe that each individual should, as the beautiful old hymn says, "Brighten the corner where you are" and that participation in, membership in, or affiliation with any church or group is STRICTLY a private matter between you and Jesus Christ.
The book contains 27 chapters plus an Appendix comprising approximately 230 standard 8 ½ X 11 pages. By printing all the files you will have the full text of the published version, available since 1993.
If you would like a printed, bound copy ($5 plus postage), contact Hal Wilcox, (801) 825-4222, 115 East 100 No., Clearfield, Utah 84015.
There are three differences worth mentioning between this web version and the Eighth Printing available from Hal Wilcox. The three differences are this web version contains 1) a revised Chapter 1 now expanded to ten pages from the original six, 2) the addition of Chapter 27 on obtaining one’s calling and election or being "sealed with that holy Spirit of promise" that Paul speaks of in Ephesians 1:13, and 3) restoring to the Appendix the full text of an 1842 editorial by Joseph Smith entitled "Try The Spirits" which appeared in earlier printings.
This book represents significantly more than 2000 hours of labor by the authors. It is now made available on the web as a gift to all who love the Lord and seek a deeper Gospel understanding and a closer relationship with Jesus Christ.
