Cumorah Research

Here I have posted research I have done on Cumorah in New York, to support that this was the actual location of the Nephites and the library of their records.

I have put together this website as a personal project as well as a testimony to the Book of Mormon, and to provide the correct location of the previous habitation of the prophets of the Nephites and Jaredites, in as much as I have researched and come to conclusion through the spirit. In that they did live in the northern continent, primarily North America, as this was and is the land of promise which was prophesied in the Book of Mormon that the Europeans would inherit after the Nephites and Lamanites apostatized. Along with research from early Saints, which the majority believed the Nephites lived in North America, personal revelation, visions and testimonies from others it shall show clearly to those who have ears to hear and eyes to see that what I have here is the truth.

This website is solely my personal views, but what I feel is important for any student of the Book of Mormon to know.  This website is by no means endorsed by the LDS church, nor affiliated, nor is it meant to be a replacement to any study of the Book of Mormon, but merely a way hopefully to allow people to feel closer to the Nephites, and that there record is indeed true, and calling to them from the dust.  My personal opinions and or revelation here is not a replacement for any official church revelation.  Anything you read here, read with a open mind and heart, and take it up with spirit for yourself.

Others have come and taken it upon themselves to try and prove that Cumorah is / was in Mexico, despite much evidence that it wasn't.  What they have found there are remnants of the Mayans, not Nephite and the caves of records in south America are connected more to the Mayans and older civilizations like those who left Atlantis and Lemuria.

The Hopewell and Oneida natives were remnants of the Nephites and a lot of the mounds were in fact built by Nephites, as well some of the higher mounds were Jaredite but built on top of.

Some archaeologists say that Joseph Smith called whatever he came across in his travels a Nephite structure and that he had no idea what he was talking about.

But I know he knew exactly what he was doing, he was the one taught by Moroni for hours, and he would go home to his family and describe everything from the Nephites customs, to their clothing, where they were located and so on.

Actually the First Presidency of the Mormon church still hold ground that the Hill Cumorah in New York is where the final battle took place, so either they know something the other church leaders don't or they just don't want to take the risk of being wrong.

The Oneida tribe of natives who lived in Northern New York up into Canada in the great lakes region, it is said that Joseph Smith at one time even had contact with these natives, they were responsible for protecting the hills in that area.  The ancestors of this tribe disappeared around the same time as the Nephites as well.  The tribe is called the Oneida(s) and they protected a hill called Hill Oneida (which a town Oneida Tower was named after) where the remnants of an ancient tower are built. In the book of Mormon we find that Alma spoke from the top of the hill Onidah.  The remnants of a tower are common on these hills, like Tower Hill at AoA, and the tower on hill Onidae.  In the book of Mormon it is written, "And it came to pass that he caused many buildings to be built in the land Shilom; and he caused a great tower to be built on the hill north of the land of Shilom..." The land west from far west Missouri to the Utah area was part of the land of desolation.

There are reports of people in the New York area around the time of Joseph Smith going about digging in all the hills in hope of finding treasure.  One such group of people found a chest full of treasure containing a breast plate and some other things which they went and melted down unfortunately.  Other reports of numerous caves are found in the area.  Joseph Smith was said to have gone around to several hills in the area, one which he dug out another cave and he said there was a great Nephite captain buried with his treasure there but he never gained access to it.  He said the majority of the hills were artificial, and built long ago.  I think some of the hills were built before the Jaredites even arrived and were built during the time of Enoch, Noah and Adam.  It is written that Adam had a cave of treasures in a hill, this may be around Tower hill. Others have found records in a similar manner that Joseph did.  Although anti-Mormons use these people saying that Joseph Smith stole their stories and incorporated them into the Book of Mormon, I know this is not the case. The most popular story is of Solomon Spaulding.  He wrote a story called the manuscript which is said to be just a story he wrote, but it looks to much to me like an actual journal of events, and a translation of a record he found when he lived near some mounds in Ohio. Anti's claim Sidney Rigdon took Spaulding's story and incorporated it into the Book of Mormon, because Spaulding's manuscript has too many similarities.  Of course it has similarities, he dug it up out of a Nephite mound and found a stone box with part of their history inside, would not you think that it would be similar to the records Smith found?  But instead of people seeing this as a verification of the Nephites existing they choose to see it as people committing forgeries.
